What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

Entertaiment is entertainment on any scale, from an individual listening to music for pleasure to a restaurant or club hosting a performance; from a banquet arranged for two to a wedding reception for thousands; and from sports practised by professionals to global sporting events televised for the enjoyment of spectators. It can also be found in activities that are formerly associated with work or war, such as hunting or archery, which develop into spectator sports; and in recreations of historically significant events such as public executions or battles. The power of certain familiar forms of entertainment is illustrated by the way that, for example, Scheherazade, a story in the professional storytelling tradition, has been adapted for orchestral music by Rimsky-Korsakov and others; made into films by directors like Pasolini; and reimagined as innovative video games.
